Public IP

Your public IP is the address websites see when you connect. A VPN replaces it with the VPN server's IP.
Usually takes a few seconds
Your device has a private IP (like 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x) on your local network. Your router has a public IP — the one websites see.
When you use a VPN, your traffic is encrypted and routed through the VPN server. Websites then see the VPN server's public IP, not yours.
IP geolocation databases map IP blocks to registered locations. Many VPN providers rent servers from hosting companies (AWS, DigitalOcean, Hetzner, etc.) whose IP blocks are registered to the hosting company's headquarters.
The ASN (Autonomous System Number) and Network Organization fields often reveal the actual hosting provider, which is more reliable than the country/city fields.
IP geolocation is approximate. It identifies the VPN/ISP exit point, not your physical location. Network details depend on Cloudflare edge metadata availability and may be unavailable.
